QuantrolOx Installs Quantum EDGE at NQCC to Accelerate Quantum Research Initiatives

Quantum EDGE at NQCC

PRESS RELEASE

24th September 2025, Espoo, Finland

QuantrolOx, the developer of Quantum EDGE software for automated quantum control, is pleased to announce that its technology has been installed in the experimental laboratories of the UK’s National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC). This installation provides NQCC researchers with advanced control-automation capabilities to support their ongoing efforts to develop scalable quantum computing technology.

Quantum EDGE is designed to work out-of-the-box with minimal set-up, allowing researchers to focus on high-level tasks such as quantum error correction rather than spending time on qubit bring-up, characterisation and tuning. By streamlining QPU calibration, Quantum EDGE can help accelerate experimental workflows and system optimisation.

“We’re pleased that NQCC researchers are making use of Quantum EDGE in their experimental set-ups,” said Vishal Chatrath, CEO of QuantrolOx. “We believe it will play a key role in supporting the broader quantum ecosystem as it moves towards scalable quantum computing.”

Dr Vivek Chidambaram, Superconducting Hardware Development Manager at the NQCC, commented: “Access to robust automation tools is important as we scale up our research programmes. Technologies like Quantum EDGE can help accelerate device characterisation and enable our teams to focus more on addressing the challenges of scaling quantum computing and system integration.”

About the NQCC

The NQCC is a research institution funded through UKRI, dedicated to accelerating the development of quantum computing by addressing the challenges of scalability. Working with partners across industry, government and the research community, the NQCC is creating the necessary R&D capabilities through coordination and delivery of a technical programme, alongside the commissioning and operation of new facilities. The programme will deliver assured quantum computing capability, enabling the UK to remain internationally competitive.

About QuantrolOx

QuantrolOx provides the Quantum EDGE software, which has set a new industry benchmark by achieving fully automated quantum processing unit (QPU) characterisation and tune-up, creating a two-qubit gate in under 25 minutes – a task that previously required up to a week from several PhD-level experts. By enabling hundreds of iterative development cycles per year – versus only a handful today – this breakthrough helps QPU developers accelerate the development of high-quality qubits essential for fault-tolerant quantum computers.

QuantrolOx is the only quantum software company thoroughly testing its software on a uniquely configured quantum computer 24/7, ensuring seamless out-of-the-box compatibility with 70% of the world’s solid-state quantum computers. Quantum EDGE integrates easily with workflows in academia, research organisations and industry, supporting open-architecture principles for compatibility with major quantum hardware providers.
